Forrest Krazit (vocals/piano), Joshua Schmidt (guitar) and Ryan Harvell (drums) felt a call to start a band and experiment with music and songwriting after playing together in their youth praise band in Tallahassee, FL. When asked about the name Canopy Red, the guys say, “We like the concept of the word ‘Canopy’ because we knew we were sheltered by God. We added ‘Red’ to convey the concept of being sheltered by Christ’s blood.”
In early 2009, the band signed with Creative Soul Records and began the development process with producer Eric Copeland at the helm. Since their first EP was released in August of 2009, Canopy Red has played at countless retreats, revivals, church services, and outreach events. They spent the summer of 2011 touring in conjunction with the “Extreme Tour”, the longest running Christian tour of it’s kind in the world. Their songs have received national and international radio play with their latest single “Here to Stay” reaching the number 24 spot on Billboard’s Christian Rock chart. The band is currently working with Grammy nominated and Dove award winning producer/songwriter Rusty Varenkamp on a new project to be released in 2012.
